On December 8th-12th, 2025, the celebration for Sierra Vista High School’s Winter Spirit Week began. The annual event brings students together to spread cheer before finals week, the end of the semester, and the long-awaited Winter Break.
The first day of Spirit Week was Holly Jolly Jammies day, where students at SVHS Jingle Bell rocked” the day with festive pajamas. Tuesday was Ugly Sweater day but instead of ugly sweaters, everyone “sleighed” the day with cute, quirky sweaters. Wednesday brought SVHS’s rivalry between reindeer and elves; reindeer won in a landslide, with very few dressing up as elves. Thursday shared the cozy part of the holidays for “bring a stuffed animal” day. Proving that high schoolers are not too old to enjoy childish toys and experiences. Friday was Jingle Bell Jamboree da,y where freshmen wore green, sophomores wore white, juniors wore blue, and seniors wore red, showing their Red-yness to graduate.
During the lunch block, fellow Staff member Mia Villacis(10) danced to the song “Ditto” by Newjeans. Along with her peers, to spreads joy this holiday.
At the winter assembly, students and staff gathered in the gym to enjoy a student-formed band performing rock Christmas songs, rap battles. The Sierra Vista choir performed Christmas carols a cappella. Competitive games are played by staff competing against students, and varsity athletes competing against varsity athletes. And to “wrap up” the assembly, SVHS’s synergy dance team performed an exciting dance number.
Winter spirit week puts students and staff alike in high spirits before the stressful week that is finals. Mrs. Mapes (Learning Strategist) at SVHS explained her love for winter spirit week, “I love the holidays, and I love seeing our school come together.”
