On April 15th, 2026, Sierra Vista High School hosted its annual dance showcase called “Nature’s Rhythm,” which filled the theater with entertaining and meaningful performances. The showcase began with a heartfelt video of dance students rehearsing their piece that compelled the audience. The SVHS dance students worked hard to create compelling dances and create memories they will forever keep with them. Dancers performed throughout their class periods.
Opening the showcase, period two performed their dance to “Animal Song” by Savage Garden. The dance showcased multiple forms of dance, such as Color Guard. Lily Rose (9), representing Mother Nature, spun her flag while her fellow dancers represented different animals. Shocking the audience with their moves, period two started the show strong.
Up next, period six performed their dance “Seasons” choreographed by Ms. Jennifer Holmsen. Their dance contained various songs, including “Blackbird” by Beyonce, “Song For A Winter Night” by Gordon Lightfoot, “Adventure Of A Lifetime” by Coldplay, and “Summertime” by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince to showcase the different elements of nature.
Period one, directed by Ms. Jessica Sneek, performed their dance “FIRE.” The dance consisted of red fans as props, and the music came from Girar Mundo and Buddha Bar. The soloists of the show, Arin Benito (9) and Max Xaysengsouk (9), put all of their energy into putting on the best solos and show they could. On the night of the show, period one set fire to the stage.
Following period one’s dance, Ms. Sneek’s period four performed their musical dance “Singing In The Rain.” The dance brought a new kind of entertainment to the audience with their prop umbrellas and upbeat dance moves. The stars of the dance, Jumar McCain (10) and Makayla Mesa (10), put hard work into bringing their dance from the stage into life by bringing energy to the stage.

While performing multiple different genres, the dance students showcased their many talents in all genres of dance.
Following up came period seven with their show “Rhythms Of The Night,” performed to “Cadence” by Travis Lake. Utilizing drumsticks and hip hop in their dance, period seven brought energy to the stage. The dancers brought passion for dance into their performance, choreographed by Ms. Holmsen and volunteer Sage Porterfield.
Just like stars, the Sierra Vista Dance Company shone while performing their dance “Awakening” and showing off their acrobatic dance moves. Period five’s beautiful and heartfelt dance moves shocked the audience, and the Dance company later performed their dance for a dance competition and won first place overall high score.
Switching the mood, Ms. Holmen’s third period performed a dance they choreographed themselves, “Listen to the animals,” using the spoken word poem “Dear future generations: Sorry” by Prince Ea and the song “Mother Earth” by Karlene. Period three shocked the audience and brought tears to Ms. Holmsen’s eyes with their way of storytelling through their dance moves, and the meaning behind the dance.
The audience welcomed period one back as they performed their dance “Forest Keepers.” Essence Coleman (9) Dylan Nikolov (9) and Max Xaysengsouk (9) charmed the audience with their stunning solos and brought energy to the stage.
