Spring Break is almost here, and for many of Sierra Vista High School’s students, that means time to relax, catch up on sleep, and finally watch or play the movies and games everyone has been discussing. This year, the entertainment world is receiving plenty of new movies and video games coming out throughout spring break and into the summer.
One of the most talked-about unique upcoming films, coming out on March 6th, 2026, The Bride! (Starring Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale), a reimagining inspired by the Bride of Frankenstein. Director Maggie Gyllenhaal aims to bring a feminist message to the world with this movie; the message centers on self-definition and resistance against being treated as a possession.
Science-fiction fans may wait a bit as Project Hail Mary (Starring Ryan Gosling) releases on March 20th, 2026. Based on the bestselling novel by Andy Weir, the story follows a junior high school teacher and former molecular biologist, Ryland Grace, trying to save Earth from an extinction-level threat, combining space adventure with problem-solving science.
Animated movie lovers also “get a little love” as Hoppers (Starring Piper Curda and Dave Franco) releases in theaters on March 6th, 2026. A story about Mabel, a curious teenage girl, who uses technology to transfer her mind into a robotic beaver so she can communicate with real animals and protect their environment. Pixar, known for mixing humor, adventure, and emotional storytelling, has many viewers grow curious to see the movie explore the relationship between humans, animals, and technology.
Thankfully for gamers, several major video games will also release this year as wrestling fans’ excitement is held for the new WWE 2K26, the newest entry in the WWE video game series, releasing on March 13th, 2026. This year’s game features CM Punk as the official cover star, which has generated a lot of positive talk among fans. The game will include updated rosters, new match types, and popular modes where players can create their own wrestler or compete using their favorite WWE superstars.
Sports gamers may also look forward to MLB The Show 26, a baseball simulation game that allows players to create their own athlete or manage a team through a full season. Releasing on March 17th, 2026, the game introduces improved gameplay enhancements on top of 500 new animations for on-screen realism.
Fortunately for horror gamers, Resident Evil: Requiem was released on February 27th, 2026. Though already released, Resident Evil is expected to remain a major topic throughout spring break as players explore the newest entry in the long-running survival horror franchise that follows the fan-favorite, Leon Kennedy, and new addition, Grace Ashcroft, as they return to the now burned-down Raccoon City after 27 years.
With the new approach of a break, students will receive plenty of time to take in the new entertainment. From highly anticipated movies to major video game releases, there will be plenty to watch, play, and talk about during the break throughout the summer. Whether someone is excited for a new film, or a long-awaited sequel, or the next big video game, this season is beginning to shape up for everyone.
