On September 29, 2025, Sierra Vista’s Homecoming spirit week builds up excitement for the homecoming game and dance. Vista’s spirit days provide a way for students to express their excitement for the dance. The student council organized different “Vintage Las Vegas” themes for each day.
Starting off the week was Monday’s Jackpot Jersey day, where enthusiastic students showed off their school spirit by wearing their jerseys and sports gear. Many students participated, showing up in jerseys and other sports equipment. On the following day “Twin Chips Tuesday”, many students matched outfits with their friends. Next up, Wildcard Wednesday encouraged students and staff alike to dress in crazy colors and patterns looking like true wildcards. On the following day, Thursday’s character day, many creative students showed up to school in many creative character costumes. School spirit was at an all time high this year for character day. All the Homecoming buzz was reaching a climax on Fremont Friday, where students showcased their Vista pride by wearing black and gold for the last day of Homecoming spirit week. Many students participated in Sierra Vista’s homecoming spirit week, making this one a week to remember.
The excitement from the spirit week led into an extremely enjoyable tailgate, with many different performers, karaoke, and delicious food trucks wafting the smell of fried food all around the event. Phoenix A. stating “The vibes are up there for sure.” When asked if they enjoyed the event, students responded with a resounding yes. Even the Synergy dance team showed up to excite the crowds before they even entered the stands.

When the tailgate ended, students were led to the entrance of the field and offered golden pompoms when entering. As well as a facepaint booth for students to show off their mountain lion spirit. After two quarters of no score change and vigorous cheering from both sides, the pompoms began to fall apart and the windy conditions caused streams of plastic gold film to fly all around the field and stands. Unintentionally giving the game an astonishing visual experience for the audience, not so much for the mountain lions themselves. Free popcorn in the concessions area was offered to students at the start of the game and at halftime. With the howling winds and distracting shiny pieces of plastic film flying everywhere, it made it hard for the lions to perform at their best, and both teams struggled to score against each other for the first two quarters. But unfortunately the pirates made some key passes in the third quarter and took home the game.
