America’s Loss of Television Legends
March 2, 2022
Just when Americans thought 2021 could not get any worse on December 31, American television icon, Betty White passed at the age of 99 December 31, 2021 leaving many friends, family, and fans heartbroken. Then, to make matters worse America’s favorite TV dad, Bob Saget, passed away only 9 days after. Saget famously known for the role of the loving father Danny Tanner from the show “Full House,” represented a father figure to many while Betty White resembled everyone’s favorite grandmother.
White an American actress, author, and comedian widely known for her role as Rose Nylund in the show ¨The Golden Girls,” passed away on December 31, 2021. Only a few days before White posted on Instagram, “My 100th Birthday…I cannot believe it is coming up, and People Magazine is celebrating with me!” With the irony and heartbreak of her passing two days later, her Agent and close friend, Jeff Wijas confirmed that White died peacefully in her sleep, but also that she had a stroke only six days before. While some people claimed and spread falsehoods on social media that White died from a Covid-19 booster shot, Witjas debunked that rumor while also adding she was not afraid of death and wanted to be with her husband Allen Ludden, who passed away in 1981.
With the mourning of White, friends, fans, and family shared a tribute for her on the Hollywood soundstage where Cher performed the “Golden Girls’ theme song in honor of the celebrity. January 31, 20222, President Joe Biden, Cher, Jean Smart, and many more celebrities celebrated a one month tribute to White.
Tragically, the sudden loss of Bob Saget remains unknown. Initial reports claimed that Saget died from head trauma January 9, 2022, but new information is still being reported as to the true cause of his sudden demise.
Saget’s wife Kelly Rizzo shared on social media a one month tribute to her husband with a video of “incredible moments.” Rizzo posted her greatest moment with her husband showing “the simple pleasures in life” and how “incredible” he was.
Jodie Sweetin, who also starred in “Full House” as Stephanie Tanner, shared her insight she learned from Saget during difficult situations. “One of the things I learned from Bob and, you know, even now in having to walk through his death and everything is how to laugh through some of the most painful moments of your life,” she said. “It’s something that carried me through so many times and so many things in my life.”
Candace Cameron Bure who played DJ Tanner in “Full House” also mentioned Bob Saget was “so much more than her TV dad, the loss is unbearable”
Both Betty White and Bob Saget lived a successful life and will live forever in the films and shows in which they starred.
