Sierra Vista High School’s winter sports program experienced a season of success. As spring sports begin, reflecting on the success of the winter season proves its importance.

Sierra Vista’s boy’s basketball team underwent a season of triumph. After winning a large majority of their season games the boys’ basketball team went on to face SkyPoint High School. After another victory, the team earned the 4A Desert League Co-League Champions title. Moving into playoffs, the team hosted their first game and took the win scoring, 71-68 over the Rancho Rams, and proceeded into the Semifinals where they reigned victorious against Reno High School. As the team moved to the state championship against Damonte Ranch they took on yet another victory and scored the title of State Champions. Good job Mountain Lions!

Sierra Vista’s boys wrestling team fought hard this season, and on Saturday, February 10, the team qualified to the Regional Championships where they accumulated the most points and moved on to state championships. The team moved on to state and each player competed, acquiring the most points in the end, winning them the title of 4A State Champions against runner-up, Coronado Cougars.

Girl’s bowling reached success along with a successful season, the Sierra Vista High School girls’ bowling team won the title of 4A Academic State Champions. Obtaining the highest GPA in their division, the girls won this title and will take it with them into future seasons.

With numerous state champions as well as academic champions, the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions accomplished an extremely successful season, hopeful for more to come in the spring season.
