Senior Guide to Graduation

Important Dates for a Year to Remember

As the new school year starts to unwind, all grades are looking forward to the new activities forthcoming in the future. For seniors specifically, this year is the most important to them, and is exceedingly jam-packed with events.

Sierra Vista High School’s Student Council President Kylee Duvall is excited for the current upcoming senior activities.

“The top events seniors should be looking forward to are Homecoming, the Homecoming Game, Senior Days which are every 22nd of the month (seniors should wear their senior crowns and shirts this day), Sadies, Prom, Senior Sunrise, Graduation!” said Duvall.

As the events themselves are important, in addition, the time and dates for all of them are just as important as well.

“Homecoming is October 16th in the SVHS quad. The homecoming game is October 15th at 6 PM on the football field. That is also where Hoco Court will be announced.” stated Duvall.

“Sadies is on March 12th and will be here at Vista, we just don’t know exactly where yet; it’s a Sadies Fest instead of a dance this year. Prom will be held at Springs Preserve on May 14th. Senior Sunrise is on the football field on May 6th. Graduation is to be determined.” continued Duvall.

With COVID-19 still being a concern, some changes have been made to certain recent events.

“There hasn’t been any drastic changes to how senior events are run this year besides assemblies,” explained Duvall.

“Despite this, we are supposed to have a senior assembly at the end of the year, but we still don’t know when we will be allowed to have assemblies.” said Duvall.

Luckily, no senior activities have been cancelled or postponed for the time being.

“No senior events have been cancelled or postponed yet. So far we have been able to do everything just adding little tweaks to it so we are able to do it. The only thing we can’t do yet is assemblies,” noted Duvall.

The most important event, graduation, is approaching fairly quickly.

“We just had a parent rally for graduation cap and gowns and letterman jackets and grad gear,” stated Duvall.

“But if you need to get sized for cap and gowns you can stop by the Herff Jones office either Friday afternoon or all day Saturday. We do not have a day picked for graduation yet.” continued Duvall.

Seniors should also still be aware of the days designated for them to show off their senior pride.

“The biggest thing we’d like to see seniors participate in is Senior Days. Senior days are every month on the 22nd since we graduate in the year of 2022. That day, we will have a pep rally during lunches and we want seniors to wear their Senior Shirts and Senior Crowns,” finished Duvall.
