CCSD Implements COVID-19 Protocols

With students back at school in-person this year, it’s important to continue to keep the Sierra Vista High School community safe moving forward. Following social distancing protocols, wearing masks, and sanitizing regularly are all things expected of students as they commute around campus.

SVHS Assistant Principal Crystal Collins believes that it is crucial that everyone knows the facts.

“Sierra Vista does not keep a running total of students in sports who have been quarantined,” said Collins.

“However, each team is monitored closely, and if a student does test positive, close contacts are notified and also placed on quarantine.” continued Collins.

In the case that COVID-19 cases rise dramatically within the school, there is sure to be a backup plan for all students.

“Any determination of school closure would be made at the district level under the guidance of CCSD Health Services and the Southern Nevada Health Department.” mentioned Collins.

As students cannot always be protected from the virus, others within close proximity of an infected student should do the best they can in order to stay safe.

“Students should continue to properly wear their masks, wash their hands thoroughly, and social distance as much as possible.” stated Collins.

If a student does start showing symptoms, however, it is encouraged that they alert the school’s administration.

“Sierra Vista students who have COVID-19, have symptoms of COVID-19, or have come in close contact with an individual with COVID-19 should notify the school,” explained Collins.

“These students will be placed on distance learning and can access their coursework via Canvas.” finished Collins.

While continuing to keep this information in mind, it is important that all students follow all protocols to keep each other and the community safe as a whole.
