As the 2024-2025 school year comes to an end, many students at Sierra Vista High School begin making plans for their summer vacation. Whether students intend to travel, clock in for their first summer job, or relax at home, students eagerly anticipate the upcoming summer months
For many students, this summer is about spending time with family and traveling around the world. Erik Grigoryants (11) shares, “I’m going to Armenia right after school ends, and I’ll be there from May through August, visiting family and exploring the country. I haven’t been there in a while, and it’s a chance for me to spend time with my favorite grandma.”
Cruises offer a fun and unique way to travel, and Austin Gould (11) shares, “In June, I’m going on a Royal Caribbean cruise with my family for two weeks. I’ve never been on a cruise before, so I’m excited for the food and all the places we’ll stop at.” The Royal Caribbean cruises often include destinations like the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Jamaica.
California remains a popular destination, with many students planning trips there this summer. Traveling to California is fairly easy, as the drive is only around 4-5 hours. Gabriel Sabasino (11) shares, “I’m going to L.A. for vacation and I plan to chill at the beach, hang out with my family, and just enjoy the break.” Gabriel’s trip includes stops at Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier. When the vacation ends, he plans to keep busy.
During the summer, students shared how they plan to start working, and some are starting their first summer job. Austin Gould (11) shares, “I’m going to be working with my dad once we’re back from the cruise. It’s something we do every summer. I help out with his construction business, and I get to learn a lot at the same time.” Gabriel Sabasino (11) shares, “I will be working at McDonald’s all summer. I want to use the money for myself and save up a bit to hang out with my friends.”
For students staying in Las Vegas, plenty of activities can make summer enjoyable. Popular spots include Cowabunga Bay/Canyon, where they offer season passes that cost around $100. Season passes include unlimited visits to Cowabunga Bay/Canyon for the rest of the 2025 summer season, 10% off meals, and 30% off friend tickets. Daily passes start at $25. Red Rock Canyon offers great hiking and stunning scenery. For students who enjoy shopping, Town Square and Downtown Summerlin remain popular spots for shopping and spending time with friends. Summer gives students a chance to rest, whether through travel, work, or downtime at home. With so many different opportunities, Sierra Vista students are making the most of their time off.
