Many movie lovers plan to escape the heat by watching some of the amazing upcoming films set for release in summer 2025. The summer blockbuster season constantly delivers great movies during summer, school gets out and youth have more time in their days, they often flock to the theatre. This led to an effect of the “best movies” being released during summer. The following is a breakdown of some of the movies to look out for this summer.
Thunderbolts sets the scene for the season releasing May 2, 2025, starring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov. With a $180 million budget, this team of anti-heroes are ready to take over the theatres this summer.
The live action Lilo and Stitch continues the early summer momentum, releasing on the last day of school, May 23, 2025. The film has a $100 million dollar budget, and to keep the set authentic, the crew filmed in Oahu, Hawaii. With Maia Kealoha starring as Lilo, and the original voice actor for stitch, Chris Sanders reprising his role, this movie stays authentic whilst also including new live action elements.
Another highly anticipated movie releasing on the same day, the final installment of the Mission Impossible franchise, Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning. starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the eighth and final movie in the franchise seems like it’s going all out for its last hurrah, “This is like 30 years culmination of this.” (Tom Cruise)

Paired with a $265 million dollar budget and hybrid animatronic and CGI dinosaurs, this movie seems like it’s going to smash records for the Jurassic World franchise.
Another movie to look out for in July is Fantastic Four: First Steps, the first Fantastic Four movie in the MCU, with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing.
