On April 30th at 6pm, the Class of 2025 gathered on the football field for an unforgettable Senior Sunset celebration themed “When We Were Young.” A sunset sky framed the evening as SV Beats spun music from the DJ booth while students soaked in their final high school moments together.
Student Council’s Junior Class hosted the event, led by Malia Bartlett (Junior Class President) and Alaina Smalling (Junior Class Vice President), along with future senior leaders Nyema Tippens and Kennedy Lunt; their planning transformed the field into a mini music festival. A checkered balloon arch with pink heart balloons and a matching carpet greeted guests at the entrance. Sunset-colored balloons wrapped around a photo backdrop, while two towering 20-foot displays drew attention, one with a “What’s My Age Again” Blink-182 theme and the other painted to echo the “When We Were Young” festival aesthetic. A banner on the bleachers read “Seniors C/Of 2025,” tying it all together.
Games like giant Connect 4, Jenga, and volleyball kept the energy high. Students tossed footballs, relaxed at hangout tables, and posed with photo cutouts. Chocolate-dipped strawberries from the Synergy Dance Team added a sweet touch, and Brownie LV created a buzz with their presence. A standout station, “Senior Signoff,” invited seniors to paint handprints onto a white banner and sign their names, a colorful, collective farewell.
The feedback from seniors was, to no surprise, ecstatic. Nehemiah Brown (12), the current Senior Class president added, “Senior Sunset was an amazing experience to relive the past of senior sunrise and it was overall a nostalgic experience that I will reminisce for the rest of my life”. “Senior sunset was a really fun experience and being able to see my friends from freshman year to senior year was really exciting and an overall a sweet experience” Chloe Gomez-Mata (12). “It was a bittersweet moment for me to step foot on that field for the last time in these four years as a mountain lion. I loved being able to take photos with friends and be reminded of the reason why I do what I do as student body president.” Christian Rebolledo (12).
With 188 tickets sold through 5-Star and 107 at the door, 295 seniors joined in. Laughter, music, and the glow of sunset carried the class one step closer to graduation.
