President Donald Trump took the oath of office as America’s 47th president on January 20, 2025. The event was held at the US capitol in Washington. Trumps’ first 10 days in office contained extensive presidential activity.
On his first day in office, President Trump put forth 46 proclamations, memorandums, and executive orders, one of those orders alone removing almost 80 of Former President Joe Biden’s past presidential orders. Of Trump’s latest executive actions, some of the most notable are the reinstatement of free speech laws, removing the United States from the World Health Organization, eliminating remote work options, and proposing giving citizens emergency price relief in the future. In this order, Trump also mentioned plans to reduce inflation and open Americans to more job opportunities. Additionally, Trump wishes to fortify the US border to neighboring countries, apprehending those that have crossed the border within the last four years along with anyone who attempts to in the future, and inflicting criminal charges upon those who have broken immigration laws. President Trump brought about countless disputes over his new role, causing many controversies on his first day in office alone.
On his second day in office, Trump signed two orders, far less than he had done the day prior. This includes an order involving United States aircrafts that abolishes the idea of hiring based on anything other than passenger safety, meaning diversity hires. Trump revoked numerous executive orders involving the promotion of diversity in the workforce and aiding minority communities. Trump went on to describe these previous laws as “discriminatory and illegal”.
Trump slightly increased his efforts on his third day as president. Trump’s endeavors included listing the nominees chosen to run the executive departments of the federal government, labelling Ansar Allah, or the Houthis, a group that attacked U.S. funded military warships multiple times, a Foreign Terrorist Organization, and finally, pardoning Andrew Zabavsky and Terence Sutton for their criminal charges of conspiracy, obstruction of justice, and even second-degree murder by Sutton.
President Trump introduced five proposals on his fourth day in office. One aims to grant federal recognition and support to the Lumbee tribe of North Carolina as well as other tribes in America, while also providing the Lumbee tribe full federal benefits. Another wishes to aid the progression of artificial intelligence by forming a council dedicated to improving America’s science and technology.
On his fifth day as president, Trump ordered the implementation of the Hyde Amendment, a previous amendment dedicated to preventing tax money from funding abortions, which had recently been disregarded. Trump also revoked the “Protecting Women’s Health at Home and Abroad” memorandum and reinstated “The Mexico City Policy”, which is a plan to redirect US funding from abortions when given to foreign nations as global health funds. Additionally, Trump is in the process of outlining solutions for the California wildfire issue by supplying California with water reserves.
Trump then began to pick up the pace again on his eighth day in office, with a total of five orders signed. On this day, he pronounced it a day of Remembrance for the 80th anniversary of the release of the victims of Auschwitz, a Nazi concentration camp located in Poland. Trump states, “On this solemn day, America joins the Jewish community, the people of Poland, and the entire world in mourning.” Moreover, Trump plans to reinforce America’s missile defense policy, protecting the people and infrastructure from any ambushes.
President Trump mentions controversial topics on his ninth day in office, placing an order forbidding transgender youth from receiving funding for gender affirming care through surgery or hormone treatment. In the same order, Trump states that medical institutions are banned from providing minors these surgeries, and measures will instead be put in place to advocate for the health of minors who are looking for these treatments.
On day 10 of his presidency, President Trump signs six orders. The first was the “Laken Riley Act”, a law that requires the capture of any immigrants who came to America illegally and have theft or other damaging crime charges on their record. The second was an order to fight against and prevent anti-Semitism worldwide. Trump announces that he will guard the American Jewish community just as much as any other citizen.
