On Friday, September 27, 2024, the Sierra Vista Mountain Lions took on the Faith Lutheran Crusaders for the homecoming football game. The Mountain Lions headed into this game knowing it would be a battle, as the Crusaders sat with a 5-0 record and the Mountain Lions sat with a 2-3 record.
The Faith Lutheran Crusaders led the game 14-0 after the first quarter, in the second quarter the Mountain Lions looked to fight back. The Mountain Lions gained 7 with a touchdown by Adonis Vaughn, 12, and an extra point by Zane Whitaker, 11. The half ended 21-7, a gap the Mountain Lions looked to close.
In the third quarter, the Crusaders added 13 to their score leaving the game at 34-7. Quarter four led the Mountain Lions to gain some momentum. The game ended 34-13, with a touchdown from the Mountain Lions football player Christian Lee, 11. Unfortunately, the Mountain Lions could not close the gap in the score but their student section, parents, and staff are proud of them for their battle and performance.
