On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, Sierra Vista Seniors began their journey toward graduation. Senior year entails many events and memories students look forward to as freshmen. For this year’s Seniors, they will embark on a journey full of their lasts; their last first day, their last football game, their last club meeting, and their last home game. Senior Sunrise evokes those bittersweet feelings for seniors as it marks the start of their end in high school.
Senior Sunrise began at 6 AM providing snacks, games, SV Beats music, and plenty of places to take pictures. The setup created a calm atmosphere for Seniors to watch the sunrise. Aspyn Schmidt (12) mentions, “I think there could have been a little bit more but I love the brownie bar aspect of it for sure.” Rose Brown (12) adds, “It is very pretty, I am glad they didn’t overdo it.” Anthony Pagao (12) states, “The setup is pretty typical, it is nice for a Sierra Vista sunrise.” Overall the Mountain Lions’ Senior Sunrise allowed Seniors to socialize with their peers during a calm morning before the school year truly kicks into gear.
Senior Sunrise brought the class of 2025 to a day they waited for the past three years. When asked about Senior year Anothony Pagao (12) mentions, “At first I thought I was going to be scared but now…I am ready…I am ready to graduate, I am ready to leave.” Aspyn Schmidt (12) concludes, “To sum it all up I played Slipping Through My Fingers [by ABBA’s] from Mamma Mia this morning and was crying in my car.” As Seniors begin the end of their journey as high school students… as the song Slipping Through My Fingers from Mamma Mia would say, “Try to capture every minute.”
The class of 2025 will now look forward to their last Homecoming game on September 27, 2024, and Homecoming dance on September 28, 2024. Tickets will be on sale within the next couple of weeks, make sure to be aware of price increases.
