In recognition of a new school year, Sierra Vista High School’s student council hosts a Welcome Back Spirit Week on August 26th through the 30th, 2024. As both new and familiar faces filled the school, the student council worked to celebrate the return of students by highlighting Sierra Vista’s pride across the campus.
Dotted with delight, Monday, students mixed it up with the theme Pattern Palooza by dressing in an array of patterned clothing.
Bringing a splash of fun, Tuesday, students strolled along the day in swirls of tie dye. Borrowing his friend’s tie dyed shirt, freshman Andrew Lavington claimed if he designed a shirt himself “I would probably do different shades of blue all together because I’ve seen a shirt like that before and I thought it looked cool.”
Dazzling with the theme Born To Be Wild, Wednesday, students wore neon bright colored outfits. Sharing her outfit inspiration, sophomore Aubrey Robles expresses “My outfit was inspired by my mom since she adores bright colors and my outfit is something she would wear.”
Feeling groovy, Thursday, students went back in time by displaying their 70s attire. Expressing a fondness for a different decade, however, senior Amaii Tate shares “My favorite decade has always been like the 1980s” because of the captivating entertainment and unique fashion.
Adding a pop of color to wrap up spirit week, Friday, students represented their graduating classes by wearing their class colors.
Admiring the boldness displayed each spirit day, Lavington expresses “I think Pattern Palooza was my favorite because although I wasn’t wearing one, it was fun seeing everyone’s different patterns.”
Throughout the week, pep-rallies were conducted with performances by the Sierra Vista Band, aiming to evoke energy during lunch through the band’s catchy tunes. The grand finale of spirit week, an assembly organized by Sierra Vista’s student council called “Leo’s Roller Rink,” not only showcased school spirit, but also kickstarted the season’s first football game.
