As the 2023/24 school year comes to an end, the highly anticipated AP exams arrive only less than a month away in May. Both high school teachers around CCSD and teachers home to Vista offer bootcamps for students interested in reviewing for their exams.
In CCSD’s Free Virtual Advanced Placement Student Bootcamp, four morning sessions will take place for an hour and a half on April 13th and April 20th. The bootcamp offers assistance in preparation for twenty AP courses ranging from AP Chemistry and AP World History, to AP Statistics and AP English Literature. The bootcamp will include a short, but rigorous review focusing on content, FRQs (Free Response Questions), test-taking strategies, and other key skills for success on the exam.
Many Sierra Vista teachers also voluntarily hold bootcamps in-person for their own students throughout April and May to prepare their classes for the exam.
AP Calculus AB teacher, Mrs. Stephanie Foresta, offers tutoring in the morning from 9 AM to 1 PM on April 20th and April 27th, but also the weekend before the exam on May 11th. In this bootcamp, students will review every unit for their upcoming exam on May 13th.
AP English Language and Composition teacher, Ms. Kathleen Fick, offers both weekly and weekend bootcamps to her students. The weekend bootcamp will include a mock exam of the three hour AP English Language exam on April 6th, April 13th, and April 20th. The weekday boot camps’ schedule releases every Monday and includes only the multiple choice portion of the exam in order for students to both build endurance and find their weaknesses. Students will take their official AP Exam by the College Board on May 14th.
AP Biology teacher, Mrs. Preethi Mathew, offers a review to her students on April 13th. Students will review FRQs (frequently asked questions), graphs, and a complete overview of all the units.
Many AP teachers are still in the process of releasing their dates for their in-person bootcamps at Vista, so students should stay updated and connected with their teachers for the latest dates.
